Don't Know What to Blog About?

When you're stuck and can't come up with topics to blog about, try these three tools to get your creative juices flowing.

Brainstorming:  When you brainstorm, you list everything that pertains to the topic. Pay no attention to order or logic; just list what comes to mind. This is good if you don’t know what you want to include and have a lot of information to sift through or if you are working with others to create content.

Inquiry:  When you use this method, you identify all the questions the reader may have using who, what, where, when, why, and how as idea triggers.

Mind mapping:  When you use this method, you put your topic in the center of a page and group all related ideas around it like the branches of a web. This is good for large or unwieldy topics, group writing and website writing. After you have identified all possible content, you decide what needs to go into the document and what can be left out. Eliminate anything that does not appeal to the reader or help you achieve your outcome. The final step is to put your ideas into a logical order so that the reader can easily move through the material. When you have whittled your list down to the subjects you want to cover, you can use the outline method to organize the subjects into a logical flow.
