Make Sure Your Content Hits the Mark

Content is any information you create and publish. It includes your website, blog, information and marketing materials, e-mails, MP3s, and so on. As a consultant, I review a lot of content for my clients, and I create a lot of my own content, so I know what works and what doesn't. Here are three tips to help your content deliver the results you want.
  • Set an outcome before you start creating. Decide what you want the customer to do after reading or listening to your content. The outcome keeps you on track and helps you decide what to put and leave out.
  • Give your customer more than they expect. Be generous with your advice and counsel and make sure everything has valuable information the customer can use.
  •  Add a call to action. Don't assume your customer knows what you want him or her to do; tell them by making a clear offer or giving them clear directions about what to do.
