Amp Up Your LinkedIn Presence

I am amazed at how many of my clients come to me with practically no LinkedIn presence. LinkedIn is the social media site for entrepreneurs and businesses.Potential clients and employers check your LinkedIn profile before they talk to you! The more robust your profile, the more active you are in this valuable social medium, the more visibility you gain, the more influence you have, and the more influential professionals want to connect with you.

LinkedIn is designed primarily for the business world. You sign on and promote your business to potential employers, customers and peers. Through LinkedIn, you can promote your business and connect with people from all over the world. For a serious business, LinkedIn makes sound sense for making professional contacts that generate business.
According to a study conducted by Hubspot, LinkedIn is “277 percent more effective for lead generation than Facebook and Twitter.”

LinkedIn allows you to post a resume, CV and specific business skills. It matches you or your business to other businesses and people who share similar skills or who are looking for someone with your skillset. After you sign on to use LinkedIn, it finds business contacts and potential customers for you. It is a win-win situation. (See my blog post Why Polishing Your LinkedIn Profile Means Business

While LinkedIn offers the same fundamental features as other social media, including internal messaging and update posting, its focus is strictly businesses. You can ask clients to give you recommendations that highlight how you work with them to achieve results, and they can endorse you.

It is necessary for you to be active on LinkedIn in order to make connections. Join groups that allow you to interact with your peers, customers and potential customers. Groups provide access to people and discussion topics related to your industry or geographic region. Share ideas and best practices and become known and respected as an expert in your field.

My LinkedIn profile is top rated. I spent a long time working on it and regularly update it. You can see it here: Patricia Haddock. I also have three LinkedIn groups:The Successful Professional in BusinessBusiness Etiquette, and Bottom-Line Results for Entrepreneurs.
