Write your article and put it on your website. Do not post it elsewhere until it appears when you search for it on google.com. This way you get credit for the article and more traffic is sent to your site to increase your visibility.
You can submit your article to one of the article directory sites, such as ezine.com. Article directories are places where editors and content managers find articles for their sites and publications they manage. Article directories host your article and provide it as content to anyone who might want it. Check the directory’s editorial guidelines for word count, subject matter, and so on.
Make sure to read the fine print when using article directories. You may sign over rights you may not want to grant. Many directories will only publish original articles that have not appeared elsewhere. Always include a byline (by your name) under the title of the article, a good professional photo of yourself, and a resource box at the end of the article with your contact info. Add an offer and give people compelling reason to follow the link to your website. People can view your article and reprint it, so it might appear in many different places. This can increase your visibility and traffic to your website.
If you want to place and/or sell articles in an online or print publication, you may need to pitch your idea and get a go-ahead before you write. If you want to create these types of articles, you will need a resource such as Writer’s Market, an annual publication of outlets for articles. These articles can be hard to place since you are often competing with professional freelance writers.
If you like to write, you can create sets of articles and sell these to people who don’t like to write, but who need to publish information. You will be selling private label rights. This gives the buyer the right to publish the articles in their name just as if they had written them. You do not get credit for these articles.
